GIF Speed
Speed up or slow down any GIF by adjusting frame delays. No re-encoding required — instant results.
Speed up or slow down any animated GIF by adjusting the delay between frames. Choose a multiplier or set a fixed frame delay in milliseconds — changes apply to every frame at once.
No re-encoding is involved, so the visual quality stays identical. Great for making sluggish GIFs snappier or slowing down fast animations for better readability.
Guide: Changing GIF Speed
When to use it
- Slow down a GIF that moves too fast to follow.
- Speed up a sluggish GIF for a funnier effect.
- Slow a tutorial GIF down so viewers can follow each step.
Choosing a speed
- 0.5x plays at half speed and 2.0x at double speed. Start with a small change such as 0.5x or 1.5x.
- 0.25x works like slow motion and suits motion analysis or highlighting a key moment.
- Large speed-ups like 3.0x can make short movements look choppy, so check the preview first.
Good to know
- This tool only changes the delay between frames without re-encoding the images, so quality stays exactly the same.
- Some browsers raise very short frame delays to a minimum, so pushing the speed too far may not make the GIF play any faster.
- To change how many times the GIF repeats (forever or once), use Loop Count.
