GIF Boomerang
Create a ping-pong loop — plays forward then backward seamlessly.
Create a seamless boomerang effect by playing your GIF forward then immediately backwards in a continuous loop. The result feels natural and is perfect for social sharing.
The boomerang is generated by duplicating and reversing your frames in the browser — no re-encoding. Original frame delays are preserved so the rhythm of the animation stays consistent.
Guide: GIF Boomerang
When to use it
- Make a short action, like a toss or a jump, play forward and backward endlessly.
- Create a seamless loop from clips that would otherwise jump at the restart.
- Give product spins or reactions a playful back-and-forth feel.
Tips
- Short clips of one to two seconds work best for a smooth boomerang.
- The result is roughly twice as long, so trim the source first if it is long.
- Choose clips where the first and last frames are similar for the most natural turn.
Good to know
- Prefer one-way playback in reverse? Use GIF Reverse instead.
- If the doubled length makes the file too big, shrink it with GIF Compress.
- Adjust the overall pace afterwards with GIF Speed.
