What rotation angles are supported?

You can rotate by 90°, 180°, or 270° clockwise, as well as flip horizontally or vertically.

Does rotating a GIF change its dimensions?

Yes. Rotating 90° or 270° swaps width and height (e.g., a 400×300 GIF becomes 300×400 after a 90° rotation).

Will colors or quality change after rotation?

Re-encoding is required, which re-quantizes to 256 colors. Minor quality changes may occur, but they are usually imperceptible.

Can I rotate a GIF by a custom angle like 45°?

Currently only 90° increments and flips are supported. Custom angles may be added in a future update.

Does flipping horizontally mirror all frames?

Yes. The flip is applied to every frame so the entire animation appears mirrored.

Can I rotate and crop at the same time?

Apply Rotate first, then use the GIF Crop tool to trim any unwanted edges.

Is my original file modified when I rotate it?

No. The tool creates a new rotated GIF in your browser. Your original file is never touched.

Why does my rotated GIF look slightly different in color?

Re-encoding reduces the palette to 256 colors. For GIFs that already use few colors, this difference is negligible.

Can I rotate a GIF with many frames?

Yes. All frames are processed. Rotation time is proportional to the number of frames and the GIF dimensions.

How do I rotate a GIF 45 degrees?

GIF Rotate currently supports only 90° increments. For arbitrary angles, you would need to use a desktop tool like Photoshop or FFmpeg.
