How do I select the crop area?

Click and drag on the GIF preview to draw a rectangle. The crop coordinates update in real time. You can also enter exact pixel values manually.

Can I maintain aspect ratio while cropping?

Hold Shift while dragging to constrain the crop to a square. Aspect ratio lock for other ratios may be added in a future update.

Does cropping reduce file size?

Yes. A smaller canvas means less pixel data per frame, which significantly reduces the output file size.

Will all frames be cropped the same way?

Yes. The same crop rectangle is applied to every frame, so the animation remains consistent.

Can I crop to a circle or other shape?

Use the GIF Round Corners tool for circular crops. The Crop tool only supports rectangular regions.

Is my original GIF modified?

No. The crop creates a new GIF in your browser. Your original file remains unchanged.

What is the minimum crop size?

There is no enforced minimum, but very small dimensions (e.g., 1×1 pixels) will result in a nearly invisible GIF.

Re-upload your original GIF to start over. Alternatively, if you still have the original, simply upload it again.

Does cropping affect frame delay or loop settings?

No. Cropping only affects the canvas dimensions. All timing and loop settings are preserved.

Crop coordinates are pixel-precise. You can fine-tune the selection by editing the X, Y, Width, and Height fields directly.
