What censoring effects are available?

Pixelate (mosaic blur) and Gaussian blur. Both can be applied to any rectangular region you select.

How do I select the area to censor?

Click and drag on the GIF preview to draw a rectangle over the area you want to censor. The selection scales with the actual GIF dimensions.

Can I censor different areas on different frames?

Currently, the same region is censored across all frames. Per-frame region censoring may be added in a future update.

What is the difference between pixelate and blur?

Pixelate (mosaic) replaces the area with large colored blocks. Blur applies a Gaussian blur that smears the content. Both effectively obscure the region.

Can I adjust the censor intensity?

Yes. The strength slider controls block size for pixelate or blur radius for Gaussian blur.

Is my original GIF modified?

No. A new censored GIF is created in your browser. Your original file is not touched.

Can I censor text or faces in a GIF?

Yes. Draw the selection rectangle over the text or face area. The tool does not auto-detect faces — selection is always manual.

Will the censored area remain in exactly the same position in all frames?

Yes. The rectangle is fixed to the same coordinates across all frames. If the subject moves within the GIF, the censor region may not track it.

Does censoring affect the rest of the GIF quality?

Re-encoding is required. The non-censored areas may show slight quality changes due to color re-quantization.

Can I remove the censoring after applying it?

No. Once applied, the original content is overwritten in the output GIF. Keep the original file to restore it.
